STILLs
Lateblooms: I started this series as a way to process grief and letting go of things we can't (or shouldn't) hold on to any more. It seems to have transitioned quickly towards celebration and self-care, licking wounds and finding pleasure(s) in "pretty" things; flowers and bouquets exploring ever-changing colors and textures and shapes as they move towards the great fade and wither we are all destined to experience. Death, impermanence and fragility are intertwined with boldness, vivacity and exuberance as I explore the ever-fleeting beauty in transition yet caught in a thousand moments with every mark. Transient moments, anomalies of thought, random decisions and a lifetime of experiences are captured in betwixt the mix of the subdued, stoic, morose and tragic always in a state of decay and flux and the effervescent. I believe I am starting to see through flowers and am enjoying what they are teaching me about being in the moment ... and giving up the need to hold on to anything ... while chasing the light ... until I can no longer.
